Kory Van Matre is the Minister of Worship and Creative Arts at First Baptist Church of Roanoke, located in Roanoke, Virginia. He and his wife, Ainsley, have been married since August 2015. Kory has been leading worship services on Sunday mornings. During the week, Kory also leads additional services on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. He has been instrumental in creating and leading their new Young Adult Services. Under Kory’s leadership, this service has experienced tremendous growth in just over a year. Kory leads the main services on Sunday mornings, which has an average attendance of 1,200. Kory is also in charge of the Television Broadcast Ministry. Since stepping into the role as Minister of Worship and Creative Arts, the Television Broadcast Ministry viewership doubled.
Kory graduated from the University of Mobile, where he earned a Worship Leadership Degree with a concentration in Music Business. While attending the University of Mobile, he traveled all over the world playing the trumpet in a performing group, RamCorps. Kory has a passion for writing worship music and leading people of all generations to the Lord.
Kory has a heart made to genuinely worship and reach the lost for Christ. Singing praises to the King of Kings and loving God’s people, is what Kory and Ainsley feel God has called them to do.
