What do you call a person who is continually thinking of others, constantly doing someting for someone else and whose energy and joy never abates?
Two words....Marie McAlpin!
Our outstanding volunteer of the month is lifeGROUP leader Marie McAlpin. Marie has led lifeGROUP (Sunday School) classes for 18 years. Her love for God’s word and enthusiasm for spiritual growth makes her a compelling teacher and an investor in people. She has the uncanny ability to bring a peaceful presence to any situation and her class has grown in love for the Lord and love for each other during difficult times.
In addition, Marie is the helping hands behind the coffee at the West Campus since 2001. Many people have been blessed by the Sunday am caffeine jolt! She also has blessed our church staff for nineteen years by serving as our volunteer receptionist at the front desk each Wednesday. And yes, the homemade goodies are always a part of her service.
Marie says, “God has blessed me in untold measure. We cannot outgive God. Through all of my trials, God’s been there to carry me, pick me up, dust me off and set me on my feet again. I love my Lord and my ladies (lifeGROUP class) and serving Him in this capacity is one small way I can give back.”
Well, Marie, it has not been a small way that you have given...your service has blessed our hearts and lives for eternity. We thank you and love you!

Maria has been and always be one of a kind. She sings, she cooks, she shares, she prays for everyone, is a top rated mother and now grandmother, and most of all loves the Lord and serves Him in all areas of her life. When I “grow up”, I would like to be a Marie McAlpin.

Praise the Lord for Marie. When we google “service” we should see Marie’s name come to the screen. She has lovingly served us from the first time we met her on the Pastor Search Committee. Thanks

Marie is a shining example of putting others first. I know that from dawn until bedtime she is doing something for someone or at least planning it. She is the first to say, “What can I do?” when a need arises.
Marie is gentle when gentle is needed and tough when tough is needed. She has been behind the scenes where she prefers to be during numerous births, weddings, and funerals. She filled my kitchen (and many, many others) with food and “herself” after two family funerals and then returned a few weeks later with serving spoons because she noticed mine were low.
Marie says we cannot outgive God which is definitely true, but you cannot outgive her either.
Marie you have truly been “Jesus with skin on” to me.
Love you!!!!
