“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17
The Men’s Ministry creates a forum for men at First Baptist Church of Brandon to build Christ-like character through commitment to God, fellowship/building relationships with other men, and serving. We are seeking to lead men to KNOW, GROW, GO and become strong and courageous spiritual leaders in their families, church and community.
We seek to equip men to be disciples of Christ through…
Men’s Small Groups Through meeting regularly with other men, we can be actively and intentionally involved in seeing Proverbs 27:17, (“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”) demonstrated in our lives as well as the lives of those we meet with. There are various opportunities to get involved with one of these men’s small groups. For more information, go to the Join a lifeGROUP or email Mark Bowman at email@example.com and we will likely be able to identify a group/time/location that meets your needs. *These groups are always open to men who either attend other churches, do not have a regular church home or do not attend church at all.
PROJECTS & Opportunities to Serve
Central Hills Baptist Camp, Attala Cty.
We were able to complete reconstruction of the shooting range covered shed and the campfire amphitheatre in May 2011. 45-50 men from FBC Brandon participated in this project. The size of the shooting range shed was increased by 1/3. The campfire amphitheatre seating capacity was increased from approximately 200 to well over 300. Thanks to all who participated in rebuilding these structures and thanks to all who give toward Mississippi Baptist ministries. Through ministries such as Central Hills, hundreds trust Christ each year.
Quarterly Men’s Breakfasts/Work Days Every quarter, we meet for a great breakfast and time of fellowship, prayer and encouragement through God’s word, then we go out and serve members of our church and/or our community who need a hand.
Emergency/Disaster Relief Team was mobilized along with volunteers we hosted from the Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief Team after the tornado that struck Brandon and Pearl on Monday evening, April 28. We were able to help 60 plus residents of the two communities while providing verbal as well as a tangible witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are always looking for new members to join us! Our team is prepared to mobilize quickly on an as needed basis to help with local/state emergencies or disasters. We are in need of chainsaw owners/operators, 4 wheel drive/ATV/heavy equipment owners/operators, individuals with construction experience, and general volunteers. For those available/interested, we schedule trainings through our Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief team periodically. Contact Mark Bowman if you are interested in joining or would like more information about this team.
